Weird Pet Insurance Claims: Dog Swallows Inkpen
There was a $1500.00 pet health insurance bill for the pooch that swallowed the inkpen and dogs have swallowed everything from a turkey carcass to an asthma inhaler costing thousands of dollars in vet bills.
The most costly pet health insurance claim has been a dog that was impaled on a fence while chasing a cat resulting in an over 3000 dollar bill. The cat, not to be out done by the dog, has had many accidents as well like the kitty that got locked in a tumble dryer or the kitten that got stuck in the springs of a sofa bed. The More Than Director, Pete Markey said “Our pets are a mischievous bunch, but thankfully all these animals lived to fight another day.”
There are more than just illnesses that pet owners need to be aware of. Does your neighborhood have large dogs that could harm your cat? Do your neighbors have livestock that could attract your dog? What do you do when the neighborhood dogs start chasing your horses?
Recently, in Dorset, one dog made history when she became the first dog in the world to have an ankle amputation prosthesis after she was trampled by a horse. Mitzi Davis, the German Shepard, now has a titanium implant below her ankle joint.
Be aware of the pets your neighbors have and make sure you have adequate protection for them whether it is keeping them in a fence or indoors if possible. If your pet is kept indoors, you should always supervise your pet when he is outside.
Pet insurance is one of the best things you can do for your pet because you never know when there will be an unexpected pen in your dogs throat.
