The Toy Dog Breed; Not A Good Choice For A Family With Children!

Written by Melissa Sutton | May 10, 2011 at 5:20 pm

This small dog is an active dog and are a favorite dog of older people because they are small and don`t need to be walked as often as large breeds. These dogs are not very messy, love to lay in your lap and they also spend a lot of time sleeping.

They usually travel quite well but need to be kept warm. They love baskets or something they can curl up in to sleep. Their lifespan is around 15 years. Another reason they are a favorite of older people is because they they are very loving, affectionate dogs. Some of these breeds include the Shih Tzu, Maltese, Chihuahua, toy Poodle, and Havanese.

There is a lot to consider before deciding to get a toy dog. If you or a family member is allergic to dogs, a Poodle is an excellent choice. Ones that don`t shed but need to be brushed once every day and groomed every six to eight weeks include the Maltese, Shih Tzu, and the Italian Greyhound.

Usually toy breeds get along well with cats and these include the English Toy Spaniels, Poodles, and Pugs. Because cats are very territorial, they will require some time to get used to the new pooch. The toy breed will not make a good family pet  for families with children because they don`t like loud noises and can be afraid if not held/handled the right way.  as per  en.articlesgratuits.com They do not get along with children as they tend to be a little too rough and these dogs are more of a ‘couch potato’.

People who spend all day at work need a Pekingese or Shih Tzu because they do just fine at home all day by themselves. While other dogs may act out, like tearing up furniture or urinating inside the house, these dogs will not normally do that.

Toy dogs make great pets but must be in a home that is suited for them which is why they are a better pet for older people, no screaming children or ruckus going on. Most times, an older person will have more time to spend with the dog, thus making them a better match!
