Has Your Cat Ate Something Poisonous? What To Look For!

Most people know cats have a curious nature and this can get them into a lot of trouble, especially if they eat something they shouldn`t! If they get poisoned, you must get them treated as soon as possible or they could die.

It could be anything from household chemicals to plants, bushes, shrubs, flowers and trees. If you think your cat has been poisoned, it is important to tell your vet what you think the cat may have eaten. When your cat goes outside, however, this task could be difficult.

Some trees, plants and shrubs can make your cat vomit, have diarrhea and become dehydrated. They may even foam at the mouth or have excessive drooling followed by a huge need to drink lots of water. The mouth is red and irritated and in extreme cases, the cat could fall into a coma and die.

Some of the plants kept inside your home that can irritate your cat`s skin are Fig plants, Poinsettias and Chrysanthemums. More serious reactions like swelling of the mouth, general weakness and staggering are caused by Boston Ivy, Caladiums, Arrowhead vine, Heart leaf, Peace lily, Elephant ear and Dumb cane plants.  as per  www.articlecircle.com

The cat that eats large amounts of Ivy, Azalea, Amaryllis, Spider Mum, and Creeping Charlie plants or flowers can suffer from, abdominal pain, tremors, vomiting, heart and respiratory ailments.

Outdoor plants that are dangerous include; Skunkwood, Daffodils, Foxglove, Castor Bean, Larkspur, Almond plants, English Holly, Wild Cherry, Spinach, Rhubarb, Pigweed and Jasmine.

Symptoms include ; diarrhea, vomiting, dehydration, weakness, pain, breathing difficulties, convulsions and seizures. Plants that make your cat hallucinate include; Morning Glory, Nutmeg and Peyote.

Also watch out for all cleaners and chemicals, especially antifreeze as it can kill the cat! Keep all pesticides and insecticides out of your cat`s reach.
