More Safety Tips For Your Pet This Christmas & Year Round!
At this time of year there are many plants that can cause severe problems in your pets, for example, Holly, Mistletoe, Poinsettia and Hibiscus. Poinsettia can cause very bad intestinal problems, so keep all these plants out of your pet`s reach! Make sure you keep all electrical cords out of their reach as well or get a CRITTERCORD at: www.crittercord.com.This is a major issue at Christmas, so make sure you address it!
You also need to keep your pets from chewing on or playing with the Christmas Tree. The ornaments can cause choking and so can the wrapping paper, so they don`t need to ‘help’ you open their or your presents! If you have a fireplace, you know how much your pet loves to be in front of it, so make sure you always have the Hearth Gate in place!
Another thing about the tree is to keep the water basin full and covered, so the pet can`t drink it, the bacterium in the water is very harmful to pets! as per http://billbeavers.articlealley.com
Some of the foods that you should NEVER give your pet include; Chocolate and candy products; Coffee; Uncooked foods as it could contain E.Coli or certain parasites which can cause ongoing, hard to diagnose problems; Uncooked yeast products; fatty and rich foods; grapes/raisins; onions and onion products; avocado and Macadamia nuts.
Also be aware that tobacco products are also very hazardous to pets, so smoke outside and keep ashtrays out of your pet`s reach! Also remember to remove the food ties from the turkey/roast/ham as this can cause major issues, if ingested!
Anything with the smell of meat on it will attract your pet, such as tin foil, plastic wrap, etc., so keep your garbage covered! Using a little extra thought and common sense will help keep your pet safe, healthy and happy this Christmas! For more info, you can visit: www.CarryMyDog.com
