Japanese Dog Nursing Home
A new trend in pet care…doggie nursing homes, Japan being the first to offer these homes for elderly dogs. Will other countries follow?
According to the Associated Press, Japan has opened the first nursing home for dogs. Included in this assisted living program is 24/7 monitoring by trained doctors, and even puppies brought around them daily to make the older canines feel younger.
The Soladi Care Home for Pets is located in the eastern Japanese city of Tochigi. The idea and concept of the dog nursing home was put together by Soladi Co. and the Endo Veterinary Clinic in Tochigi. They charge owners around $800 a month for their services.
With that payment comes round-the-clock doctor visits and check-ups. Dogs with medical conditions, such as diabetes, will have vets by their side when they need them. They also have a specially balanced diet, developed by Endo vets, which will help them live longer and healthier while in their care.
Soladi Care Home for Pets also plans on bringing in a group of rescued puppies to play with older dogs to help them feel younger and fit.
The doggie nursing home can house up to twenty dogs at one time, and families are permitted to visit whenever they like.
