Are You a Dog or Cat Person?

Written by Lauren Benton | January 26, 2011 at 3:39 pm

Do you consider yourself a dog person or a cat person?

Remember “Meet the Parents,” where Robert Di Nero played the scary CIA father-in-law of Ben Stiller’s character, Gay LordĀ Focker?

Di Nero explained it pretty well when he said he liked cats better because cats make you work for their affection. Dogs are all over you as soon as you get home and follow you around everywhere.

Cats are a bit more independant, not like, “where did he go George, where did he go?” Cats amuse themselves for the most part and do not need so much attention.

Dogs are more like children in that aspect, where they need much more attention than your average domestic cat.

Me? I like them both. I am a huge animal lover and love the qualitites in both the canine and the feline. I believe they both bring good energy to a home, dogs with their energy and affection, and then cats with their humor and they calming affect they have.

Cats are also extremely funny. My cats love to mess around with my dogs. I have three cats, and two dogs (I know, it is literally a xoo). My cat, Peaches, which is a siamese mix, loves to freak my dogs out. They will be sound asleep and she (an 8 year old cat) will come tearing through the house, startling the dogs and making them think someone is breaking in. They go crazy everytime.

Sometimes, I think she’s messing with me because I am not giving her attention because when I look back at her while the ruckus is going on, she is calmly sitting on the floor, licking her paws.

Not a care in the world, like she didn’t just cause all this craziness. I can’t help but laugh at her though. She’s my baby.

Sometimes what kinds of pets you have tell what type of person you are. Some people don’t have pets at all. Some people have extremely too many (like myself).

Dog has always been man’s best friend, however, a cat can be right up there with them.
