ANIMAFANTASIA – International Student Animated Film Festival – has an important aim to be among the top student film festivals in the world, maintaining our position as the most important student festival in Eastern Europe and continuing to reach larger audiences every edition.

Since its foundation in 2011, the Animafantasia Festival has sought to promote film culture based on this main principle: that exposure to animation culture contributes to the awareness of communities and nations of the need to support their own cinematographic expressions, which are cultural and social ambassadors to the rest of the world. Animafantasia is a medium that reflects the values, traditions, and characteristics of cultures around the world, promoting understanding, trust, and peace among nations. It is fundamental for the advancement of humankind to provide a space for this interaction. ANIMAFANTASIA creates a collaborative global community for mission-driven.

ANIMAFANTASIA advocates for a sustainable and inclusive environment for our industry within the cinema exhibition ecosystem and creates a powerful collective voice for young animators.

ANIMAFANTASIA creates spaces of filmic exchange for our audiences with the new auteurs of world cinema, where they can share and discuss their different views and perspectives, paving the way for understanding among different cultures.

ANIMAFANTASIA shines a spotlight on student creativity and innovation in animation. With a focus on submissions, selection processes, and community engagement, our festival fosters a supportive space for attendees to connect and grow. We are lucky to have as our creed a well-defined and over-decade-long mission of championing the independent voice of animation creators. We imagined a different landscape for independent artists, one where the work they wished to make could be developed and supported outside of the studio system. We created a new space for imaginative possibility and creative community.

We call that space ANIMAFANTASIA.
