Long Horn Cowfish

The bizarre looking Long Horn Cowfish is very peaceful in a community tank, but will not tolerate other Long Horns. Although the Long Horn Cowfish has been kept in reef tanks in the past, they may pick on tube worms. Lactoria cornuta is one of the more comical looking fish due to its "facial features" and helicopter-like swimming style. This Cowfish can release a toxin when extremely stressed or if it happens to perish. Although this Cowfish is an active, yet slow swimmer, it is best not to keep with quick swimmers, including Cleaner Wrasses as the Wrasse will continually attempt to clean them, stressing the Cowfish.
