SeaClear 46 Gallon Bowfront System II Aquarium
The easiest way to create a breathtaking fresh or saltwater aquarium set-up is with the SeaClear System II Aquariums. They're equipped with a wet/dry filtration system that accommodates biological, chemical and mechanical filtration media, as well as space for a heater and SeaClear Protein Skimmer, if needed (each sold separately).
The tank itself combines a modern design and SeaClear's sparkling acrylic, with smooth rounded corners for great looks and safety. Made from the clearest material available, it's 17 times stronger and less than half the weight of a comparably sized glass aquarium.
Since acrylic is impervious to the corrosive effects of saltwater, SeaClear acrylic aquariums are suitable for both fresh or saltwater use. Convenient, efficient and economical to run. Full hood with fluorescent fixtures installed (bulb not included) and manufacturer's lifetime warranty against leakage.
System II Wet/Dry Filtration System features:
- 4 way adjustable skimmer gate prevents fish from entering filter
- Quick change prefilter makes cleaning simple
- Heater or Optional Protein Skimmer chamber
- Bio-Aire Driptray distributes water evenly over biological filtration and enhances aeration
- High surface area biological media
- Air-injection nozzle
- Media tray for chemical and carbon filtration
- 350 gph submersible pump
- Clear slot to view water level in filter
- Turbulence manifold for circulation unsurpassed by any other built-in filter
TamSoccer reviewing this SeaClear 46 Gallon Bowfront System II Aquarium says: "For saltwater set-up this tank takes a little extra time and effort in collecting all the necessary add-on parts. You must add an adequate light hood to support whatever sea life you choose, whether fish or invertibrate (I suggest a 36" Coralife combo compact hood suspended over the tank) and a protein skimmer specifically designed to fit this unit must be purchased as well as an extra air pump. A light timer is helpful for use with your hood. The all in one filtration set up makes it a little more diffucult to do water changes than a regular tank because of the decreased room in the top opening of the tank, but for people needing to conserve space this is a great feature. On the down side, if you ever have to clean the bio filter due to a power outage and a reef kill, good luck getting all those bioballs out of the back compartment! A five year olds hand size will be VERY helpful to fish out all those balls for cleaning. Be careful placing your live rock as it can and will scratch the acrylic facing and sides. Saltwater algea can be a problem to get completely off the acrylic and daily scraping with an acrylic product is advisable. Also to maintain a steady temperature using a compact hood, an extra fan may be needed during the daylight cycle to keep the tank from overheating, otherwise you may need a chiller. All in all a great compact unit for the hobbiest short on space or needing to fit a saltwater tank into a tight space. I have mine built into a wall under a stairway."
